U19 Women’s and U15 Regional Championships – Day 2 wrap

WA and Tas started proceedings with a close encounter on Diamond 6, with WA winning 3-2. Diamond 1 also had a tight game between southern rivals SA and Vic, with Vic winning narrowly 2- 1. Vic capped a strong day with an easy win over WA 13-3 to show they have something to offer this week. NSW had another two wins, firstly over Tas 9-1, and then state rivals Qld 7-0. SA came back fighting in the afternoon to notch their first win over ACT 5-1.

Day 2 of the Championship came to a close last night with Qld ending the game early over ACT 10 – 0.

Stand out performances for the day: Mihikura Tuialii (Vic) had 3 hits and 3 RBIs for a strong showing against WA in the Vic’s big win. Emily Read from NSW had 3 hits from her 2 games but made them count knocking in 4 runs for the team. Gabby Plain (NSW) was strong again in the game against Qld, not conceding a run over the 5 innings match.

U15’s Regional Championship

Day 2 started with SA Red taking on NSW Country Gold and coming away with a 6-2 victory. The morning also saw the two U15 Queensland teams taking on each other- a match up both teams had been looking forward to. Qld Flames was victorious over Qld Fire with a 5-3 win. ACT Started their day strong with a win over NSW Country Gold 7-5. In Qld Fire’s second game they were victorious over NSW Metro Orange with a 3-2 win. ACT continued their winning streak in the afternoon with a victory over SA Blue (9-2). Diamond 4 saw a close match between NSW Metro Green and WA with NSW Metro Green winning 2-1. Victoria had a win over Western Australia 4-0. The final two games saw NSW Metro Orange with a win over their state counterparts NSW Metro Green 11-3. In the final match, Victoria took on South Australia Blue in a loud and entertaining 90-minute match, with Victoria winning, 7-1.
