U19 and U15 Girls’ Championships start Sunday

The competition for the 43rd NSR U19 Girls’ National Champion, playing for the Elinor McKenzie Shield, starts today in Redlands, Qld. Seven teams will participate in the double round-robin tournament that concludes Saturday 23 February. This tournament will see players show their skills to national selectors looking to add depth to the Aussie Spirit that will be competing at two Down Under Series in Blacktown, NSW followed by the 15th WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship in Canada in July.

SA enters the tournament as defending champions while NSW has won the most Elinor McKenzie Shields with 23 victories.

The NSR U15 Girls’ Regional Softball Championship will also be held in Redlands, Qld. Ten teams, including three from NSW, two from host Qld and two from SA, will participate in the double round-robin tournament with the Championship final taking place on Saturday 23 February.

NSW Metro Orange won the Championship in 2015.
