Softball Australia would like to advise the Coaching Pathway has received an update to accreditation labels which will take effect immediately.
Where previous accreditation has been defined by ‘Levels’, new titles have been created to better define the various areas of coaching.
The new pathway begins with Foundation, to Performance Talent, to High Performance Elite, to Master.
Foundation (Previously Community Coach to Level 3)
Foundation accreditation courses consist of new content, all current accredited coaches (from Community Coach to Level 3) will still follow the same re-accreditation process as previously used, more information on re-accreditation here.
Upon successful completion of each assessment outlined here, coaches will progress through accreditations to complete the Foundation course.
- SBU Coach Induction – Previously Community Coach
- Fundamental Skills – Previously Level 1
- Training and Practice – Previously Level 2
- Managing Games – Previously Level 3
To receive the complete Foundation Coaching accreditation, competency assessment must be undertaken after all four courses are complete.
Please note, coaches are not required to complete all four courses, and can maintain accreditation by following the re-accreditation process.
Currently, Performance Talent, High Performance Talent and Mastery consist of the same coursework included in Levels 4 – 6, it is only the titles of accreditation receiving an update.
Performance Talent (Previously Level 4)
Qualification at a Performance Talent and/or Performance Talent Battery Coach is attained when the coach successfully completes all course components outlined here.
Coaches currently holding completed Foundation accreditation must apply for Performance Talent courses.
- Performance Talent Coach– Previously Level 4
- Performance Talent Battery Coach– Previously Level 4
High Performance Elite (Previously Level 5)
Qualification of High-Performance Elite and/or High-Performance Elite Battery Coach is attained when a coach successfully completes all course components outlined here.
Coaches currently holding Performance Talent accreditation must apply for High Performance Elite courses.
- High Performance Elite Coach – Previously Level 5
- High Performance Elite Battery Coach – Previously Level 5
Master (Previously Level 6)
Master accreditation is awarded on the completion of a Tertiary Graduate Degree or Diploma of Elite Sports Coaching, contact Softball Australia directly for more information.
Receiving new Coaching Accreditation titles
All current accredited coaches will receive the new classification upon their next re-accreditation or completion of their next course.
E.g. A current Level 1 Coach who re-accredits becomes a Fundamental Skills Coach (previously, they retain the Level 1 Coach title).
A Current Level 4 Coach, when re-accrediting, will receive Performance Talent Coach or Performance Talent Battery Coach accreditation. A coach successfully completing the Level 5 course content will receive a High Performance Elite Coach or a High Performance Elite Battery Coach accreditation.
