Leigh showed her softball talent from an early age, winning the MVP award at the 2005 U16 Girls’ Nationals. This was not surprising, given that her mum (Robyn) and aunt (Sue) both represented Australia at World Championships.

Her junior talent led to her selection in the Australian team for the 2007 Junior Worlds and in 2009 she attended Radford University in the US.

In 2010 Leigh helped Western Australia (WA) claim its first Gilley’s Shield (Open Women’s National Championship) title since 1959. WA also claimed Gilley’s Shield titles in 2011 and 2013 and Leigh was a key part of these victories.

Also in 2010, Leigh played at her first Open Women’s Softball World Championship. Ever since, she has been a regular in the Aussie Spirit line-up, including at the Asia/Oceania Olympic Qualifier in 2019, which saw Australia punch its ticket to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Recognising Leigh’s outstanding talent and leadership qualities, she was named captain of the Lightning team for The Summer Slam – Fully Loaded Softball.

During her junior years, Leigh played at 2nd base, but now plays in the outfield.
