NSW finished the rain-shortened round robin portion of the U17 Girls’ National Softball Championship with a perfect 5-0 record while outscoring their opponents 43-3.
On the final day, NSW edged Qld 2-1 to earn direct entry into the Grand Final. WA defeated ACT to finish 5th while SA edged out Vic in dramatic fashion 7-6 in 8 innings. SA went on to the Preliminary Final but was shut out 5-0 by Qld.
The state of origin final saw NSW score 2 in the 1st inning on their way to a 3-1 Championship victory. Tournament MVP, Best Pitcher and Player of the Final, Tarni Stepto went 2-2 at the plate with RBIs, and also struck out 12 giving up only 4 hits to get the win.
