New Zealand has made a successful trip across the Tasman to be crowned winners of the Boy’s International Friendship Series while GO United denied the Kiwis a double after they defeated New Zealand in the Girl’s Final.
After winning their way into the Final following a 10-1 win over the Southside Stingers in the morning, the New Zealand Boys lined up against hometown favourites Queensland.
Queensland looked in control in the tightly fought contest taking a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning. New Zealand’s bats then exploded scoring six runs in the top of the inning to eventually win 6-3.
On the Girl’s side of the draw, New Zealand again won their way into the Final with a 4-2 win against the Australia Gold team. They would meet GO United once again after going down narrowly to them in the Qualifying Final 6-5 on Thursday.
The Kiwis were unable to turn the tables and GO United prevailed once again winning another tight affair 5-4, Keira Trim staring with three runs in the win.
