International teams give Under-23 event a lift

Teams from the USA and Indonesia will add an international flavour as the best young softball talent in Australia battle it out in Sydney this month.

The four-day Under 23 Invitational Cup, which starts on July 20, features male and female players competing for national titles.

In an effort to maintain a strong foundation for Under 23 competition in the country, the tournament  has been open to international teams in recent years.

Two teams from Indonesia will take part in this year’s  event: the East Kalimantan Softball Association in  the men’s competition, and the West Java Softball Association in the women’s.

The fifth team to join the women’s competition will be the USA Combined Colleges, a team of US-based college players.
