Eagles shut out Aussie Spirit

The Beijing Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and Angel Bunner and a pair of relievers kept the Aussie Spirit off the scoreboard, leading the Eagles to a 6-0 win in Florida.

Beijing improves to 5-2 on the season and extends its win streak to four games, while the Aussie Pride fall to 2-5.

The Eagles got on the board quickly, plating a pair of runs in the first. Chen Jia singled home Lui Li Li just three batters into the game to put Beijing up 1-0. Later in the inning, Lu Ying stole second and the throw from the catcher sailed into the outfield, allowing Jia to score to double the lead.

Beijing added another run in the third inning when Victoria Draper pressured the defence into making an errant throw, allowing her to score on the error, making it a 3-0 game.

Bunner continued to sail through the innings in the circle, allowing just four baserunners to reach through the first five innings.

The Eagles added three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an RBI single from Ying, an RBI double from Xu Qianwen, and a steal of home by Jia.

Bunner pitched around a pair of hits in the sixth to keep the shutout intact, and Gu Niannian and Chai Yinan combined to set down the Pride in order in the seventh, completing the 6-0 victory.

For the Spirit, Stephanie Trzcinski took the loss to fall to 1-1 on the season, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out two.

Stacey Webber, Michelle Cox, Carmelle Sorenson, Belinda White, and Tabitha Callander each collected a hit for the Spirit.
