Under 17 Boys – Day 4
Results from Thursday’s game saw Vic pick up their first two wins in close encounters with WA (8-7) and ACT (6-5). The South Australians had a day they may rather forget as they played out a winless triple header including two blowout games against ladder leaders NSW and Qld.
At the close of Day 4 teams are left with one round robin game each to make an impact on the current standings. Fourth spot is now the only finals spot that is up for grabs and if Qld can hold off WA then it may come down to the match between Vic and SA to see who will enter the 3 v 4 playoff scheduled tonight at 7:30pm (AEST).
The Arthur Allsopp Shield final takes place tomorrow, Saturday 7 January at 5:00pm (AEST). Keep track of all the finals action using the live play-by-plays on the 2017 Results page via Softball Australia website.
Standout Individual Performances
In their 25-0 rout of SA early yesterday afternoon, there was one standout NSW catcher that caught the eye in the short 3 innings contest. From his 4 AB’s Logan Campbell did not miss a beat with 4 hits, 3 of which went sailing over the back fence bringing in 8 RBI’s. Wow.
Qld tried their best to replicate NSW’s performance going 2 runs better in another supreme batting display against SA. Rhys Shelley (Qld) had 5 RBI’s from his 2 AB’s including an inside the park home run in the top of the first inning.
