Under 19 Men – Day 4
Defending champions NSW continue to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with capping off Day 3 of play with another two wins. Their two games saw a pitching dominance over Vic (7-0) and ACT (14-0) as momentum rolls on.
After their loss to NSW the Victorians regrouped and took on WA. In a hard fought battle they improved from the earlier game and came away with an 8-3 win. Playing out a triple header, the ‘Vics’ came up against hosts Qld only to end the day much the same as it started losing 12-1.
The Qld boys win came after a tough match up in the morning against NSW. In a now much expected tight battle between the two states, both showed strong performances with NSW narrowly beating Qld 4-3. Qld now sit second on the ladder going into the third round of games.
ACT took on Western Australia in their second game, proving a very close match up for the two teams, both show casing some impressive batting. ACT narrowly came out victors with a 6-5 score line.
Standout Individual Performances
NSW pitcher Chris Gillies was too good for ACT’s batsmen as he scalped 9 SO’s from his 5 innings pitched as his team went on to win 14-0.
Vic first baseman Alex Clayton was pivotal in the team’s 8-3 win over WA as he collected 5 RBI’s from 3 hits and 5 AB’s.
