Under 17 Boys – Day 3
There must have been something in the water at Hawker International Softball Centre as Day 3 of the Arthur Allsopp Shield saw teams pile on the runs at every opportunity. Six of the seven games had teams reach double figures as a whopping 110 runners crossed home plate for the day.
Qld scored 32 runs of their own in their two games, finishing the evening with a 20-0 demolition of the ‘Vics’ who sit without a win on the bottom of the table.
SA will be feeling confident in third having now beaten the three teams sitting below them. Day 4 has them up against the two ladder leaders in what will be a true test for them today.
First day of finals start tomorrow with all teams having at least 3 round robin games remaining in the tournament.
Standout Individual Performances
Game 19 saw Sheldon Waller (Qld) in the thick of the action against Vic as he collected 4 Hits and 4 RBIs from his 4 AB’s with a homer to centrefield the highlight. Waller also did plenty of running as he made his way around the bases 4 times himself.
WA didn’t want to let the Queenslanders have all the fun as they had a hitting frenzy of their own out on Diamond 1. 16 Hits from 30 AB’s brought in 17 runs against SA’s 5. Reilly Comrie (WA) hit a single and a double for 3 RBI’s in a solid performance.
