Under 19 Women – Day 3

Round 1 of games came to a close on Day 3 as NSW flexed their muscles and put a two game break between them and the rest of the competition. Taking care of Vic comfortably in the first game of the day, NSW then went on to knock off closest competitor Qld 10-3 in the start of the second round of games. Qld stayed in touch with an 8-1 win over hosts WA, and will be hoping to solidify a top two finish and book in a probable first final against NSW.

SA were somewhat of a bolter on Day 3 as they picked up two wins after going through two winless days previously. Getting the edge on both ACT and Vic gives the South Australians a shot at pushing for a finals tilt.

The other winner on Day 3 was ACT who silenced the home crowd with a crushing 10-0 victory over WA in the evening match. This was ACTs first win for the tournament and will be hoping to finish in similar fashion as the competition rolls on.

Standout Individual Performances

ACT’s Taylor Webb gave up minimal as her team batted well to win against WA. Webb gave up only 2 hits, claimed 4 SOs and earned no runs.

In the top 2 clash it was Maddison Smith (NSW) who split the game open with her 4 RBI’s from her 3 AB’s. A double deep into the top of the 7th brought 3 across the plate to open the game up for a NSW win.
