Under 17 Boys – Day 2
Day 2 at Hawker International Softball Centre and the Arthur Allsopp Shield has begun to take shape. Qld the only team so far to have challenged NSW, and did there chances no harm by claiming two convincing victories in the days play. Qld have now scored 18 more runs than any other team.
ACT are battling to keep in touch with the top teams, managing two wins from their four games, albeit conceding the most runs thus far – even exceeding the ‘Vics’ who are yet to win a game. The hosts edged out WA by one run in a high scoring affair (9-8)
Teams will now begin to see triple headers as the draw goes deeper into the week in the shorter 6 day tournament.
Standout Individual Performances
A bomb form Qld’s Jeremy Waters in the bottom of the 4th (bringing 3 home) capped off a good game against Vic for the shortstop, who earlier also brought Ryschan Thompson home with a single.
Jeremy Garland (NSW) took over the pitching duties from Kilpatrick on Day 2 and did not disappoint with a tidy 5 inning game against WA that kept the opposition scoreless.
