Under 19 Women – Day 2
Day 2 at Mirrabooka brought somewhat of a cool change as teams were able to play out the day without the constraints of a heat policy. Six more games were completed as we approach the close of Round 1 games and the ladder begins to paint a clearer picture.
NSW remain undefeated after 4 games and easily the best defensive side so far conceding only 9 runs for the tournament, as they picked up wins over ACT and Qld on Monday. The Victorians have been the power hitters so far notching 46 runs in their 4 games. Yesterday’s games saw the Vics knock in 14 runs in each of their two games defeating ACT (3) and WA (6). They sit equal second behind Qld only on runs against.
WA gave the home crowd some excitement as they dispatched of SA in the 4:30pm game 10-2 before then losing to Vic later on. SA and ACT have so far been unable to record a win with the early afternoon game on Tuesday between the two to come before the close of Round 1.
Standout Individual Performances
A highlight from last night’s evening match between WA and Vic was an Emma McLean (WA) homer hit out over left field fence (top of first) that had WA fans cheering.
Not to be outdone – Narisse Privitera (Vic) chimed in with a grand slam home run in the top of the 4th inning that put the game beyond doubt and lifted the travelling Victorian supporters (and home crowd for that matter) from their seats.
