Softball Australia has invested in Association Coordinator positions around the country through part-funding in Qld, Vic, Tas, SA, NT and WA. Those Coordinators have been working tirelessly with their partner associations to build capacity, capability, improve governance and grow participation. Over the past six months, the results have been significant:
- $362,800 in funding secured to go towards facility development improvements and equipment
- 97 Club Health Checks completed
- 11 strategic, operational, financial and marketing plans developed
- Softball Batter Up, Sporting Schools, Social 7s and other participation programs and competitions implemented, resulting in 15-20% increase in participation.
Meet our Association Coordinators
Association Remote Area Program Coordinator, Northern Territory
Over the past eight years Brett has worked in remote communities across Australia. Sports development is his passion, having worked in numerous sports including; netball, boxing, darts, rugby league, AFL and swimming. Most recently, Brett spent 3 three years working with NPY women’s council in the southern region of the NT.
Brett helped local community women start the Southern NT Softball competition in 2013. In 2015, the Southern NT All Stars took out Division 2 at the NT Champs.

Association Coordinator, Queensland
Karen grew up in a small country town where sport brought the community together. As a kid, she couldn’t wait to get to school to play softball and since then, softball has been her passion, having been involved as a player, official or committee member. Karen is still playing and volunteering today.
Karen has been fortunate enough to work for Softball Queensland over the past 4 years as the Association Coordinator, assisting associations with governance and management, recruitment, funding, sponsorship, education and training.

Association Coordinator, Tasmania and Victoria
Kerrie has been involved in softball for over 35 years as a player, and still plays every Saturday and in Masters tournaments. She is a Level 2 coach, Level 1 umpire and Level 2 scorer and has served on association and club executive committees over the past 10 years as a Treasurer, Registrar or Secretary.
Over the past 12 months in this role, Kerrie has assisted associations and clubs with grant applications, sponsorship deals, strategic plans, financial plans and membership retention and recruitment.
