ACT on top after day 2 at the John Reid Shield

Day 2 got underway with SA taking on WA bright and early for a 9:30am start. The hosts were competitive for the majority of the contest with the result really only getting away from them in the top of the 7th as WA increased their lead to 5 runs.

Game 12 on Diamond 1 between ACT and Qld turned out to be the game of the tournament so far with both sides showcasing their big hitters in front of an entertained crowd. In the top of the 5th, Ryan Merriman and Adam Pearce sent two over the fence to bring in 2 runs apiece off ACT big man Andrew Kirkpatrick’s pitching. Qld finished their innings 7 runs ahead leaving ACT needing to score to save the game. After some fantastic technical batting and 5 runs later, ACT was right back in the game at 7- 5 and went on to win the game adding 3 runs in the 6th.

NSW picked up 2 wins for the day and the Vics went 1 from 2 to both be equal second behind ACT who remain undefeated.
