ACT dominate the Open Men’s Championship on Day 4

Day 4 at West Beach was again dominated by ACT who went undefeated in their triple header putting on 22 runs and conceding only 2 for the day, well and truly securing top spot going into the finals on Day 5.

Pitching duties were shared between Kirkpatrick and Selu as they easily accounted for all who came into the batter’s box. Evan Byrne and Kirkpatrick were strong with the bat with 4 RBI each.

SA could not back up yesterday’s amazing feat, going down to NSW and WA in their 2 games. Two wins for NSW secured second place on the ladder leaving the remaining round robin games on Day 5 to determine third through to sixth places. With Victoria losing their three games, WA and Qld were able to keep them in their sights, but the run differential may prove enough for Victoria to hold their spot.

Other strong individual performances

  • James Darby (NSW) had an all-round performance in Game 23 against SA pitching all 7 innings for 15 SOs and no runs conceded. Darby also had 2 RBI for the match.
  • Marshall Kronk (Qld) pitched well in a must win game against Victoria, claiming 13 SOs in his 7 innings as the Patriots went on to win 6-2.
